In the last article I quoted two lines which came to my mind...The thoughts kept me awake and I tried to complete the whole poem...Here is my attempt..

‘Voices Unheard Still’

What if you cannot speak, I will lend you my voice

Speak as you never spoke, get up and rise

When you are born you cry, we rejoice

Now you cry, we suppress your voice

A day very fast and moving

For you it is a pain, no hand for soothing

Be it menial, be it hard

How they push you, force you my ward

Can’t breathe, can’t speak but hands do work

Who cares you are dead in this murk

Serving, nailing, ploughing all deed

We can’t do these, you do still a weed

Beg, borrow, steal and you will be frayed

Ask for an earned wage, but you won’t be paid

Dying of hunger, no food no fun

Life is there to catch you, how far you may run

All and sundry, punish the same

What sin you committed, in God’s name

I wish all these voices unheard,

Sometimes be listened, slowly word by word

They cannot speak but eyes don’t lie

The only question they ask is WHY?

Expressions plenty, feelings galore

Offer a hand, they do not ask for more

No charity or sympathy, only empathise

May be some day, do not see tears in their eyes

A heart filling plea now follows

To lend your voice if they cannot speak their sorrows

Say, what if you cannot speak; I will lend you my voice

Speak as you never spoke get up and rise..
